Nutrition

So, I know I've been slacking, but I have had a busy week! I know, LAME!

So, I had an appointment with my nutritionist the other day and she gave me a lot of good tips! I work in a hospital and it's constantly go go go and I often do not have time for a break before my lunch. She suggested having a granola bar handy at all times to at least keep me going and in the mornings if I don't have time she suggested to at least have a fruit or ANYTHING to start my day. Here's a list of suggestions.

Most of these are very budget friendly. I have been having hard boiled eggs and fruit for breakfast for a while. I need to make changes in order to stay interested and ensure success!

This week I have lost 2 lbs and 1/2 lb of fat!

Remember: it is important to loose fat and not muscle. One way to make sure of that is to eat enough protein!

Terrific Thursday!!

Hello! So I had a pretty busy day today at work, so I wasn't able to post my food log. I decided that I was going to share this because it might help others looking to find a way to eat healthier. I also wanted to hear suggestions on things that others have been doing that may have been working for them. Like I said, I am very open to suggestions. Also, keep in mind that this is also a struggle for me and that I'm learning new ways each and every day!

Breakfast:

- 2 Medium hard boiled eggs with a pinch of salt and lime! If you haven't tried hard boiled eggs with lime then you're missing out! Try it next time and it will give it a taste that is out of this world. 140 cals.

-French toast mini bagel with light cream cheese 110 cals.

- 8oz of watermelon 50 cals.

Lunch: I was too tired to make anything last night and this morning I woke up a little late so I grabbed lunch at the hospitals cafeteria. ( I know, hospital food, but my hospital has some pretty good food!)

General Tso chicken and Jasmine rice. Since it's a hospital and they are all about promoting good health, they are actually pretty good with sticking to the right amount of proportions. I actually took a picture after I was almost done with the food... I totally forgot about taking the pic, I was waaaaay too hungry!

-General TSo 390 cals.

- Jasmine Rice 180 cals

Dinner: Shrimp salad with feta cheese and balsamic vinegerette

-Shrimp 84 cals.

-Feta 70 cals

-Cucumber (peeled) 15 cals

- Grape tomatoes 25 cals.

-onions 8 cals.

- Olivia spring mix with herbs 10 cals

So there.... Not so bad for my first day or pic logging lol.

Introduction!

Hello Cyber World! My name is Von and I created this blog in hopes of not only using it as an outlet to vent, but also in hopes that I find other moms in my similar situation. I am a full time mom, with a full time job looking to embark on this healthy life style journey. To tell you a little bit about myself.... I always struggled with my weight, or so I thought. I was always unhappy with my image and to make a long story short it all got worse for me about 2 years ago.

In 2011, at 24 years old I weight 180 lbs. I found that out after I found out I was about 3 months pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy I had only gained about 5 or 6 lbs but one day during a regular check up ( I was in my third trimester at this point) I had found out that I had gained 16!! it turns out that I was diagnosed with not only Gestational Diabetes, but also with Pre-Eclampsia! Fast forward to a  few weeks later, my pre-eclampsia was so bad that I was hospitalized at about 28 weeks and gained 50 lbs during my stay. I was at 249! It was all water weight, so needless to say, I peed all that out and a couple of days after, I was down to 199.

So this is where my weight issues started.... the DEPO shot. Yes, Birth Control did a number on me and I have been stuck at this 208 mark for about two years now. Not only did my weight suffer, but my face even got fat :(

So where am I now? 204 lbs,. I am currently working at a hospital as a Medical Assistant. I started this Medical Weight loss program a few weeks ago and I have all the help that I need right there at my fingertips, so what's my problem? Laziness.... yes I know, most people say that they don't have time to prep food, or eat at home, or what not, but I am aware that I am the problem and I am slowly but surely learning how to stick to this healthy life style journey.

Number 1.  admitting that you have a problem is KEY! I admit it, I'm a big girl, and I need to loose the weight!

Number 2. Understanding that it is NOT a diet, but a healthy lifestyle. You have to make sure that you are aware that you don't want to only loose weight, but you also want to be heart healthy and what not!

and ....

Number 3. Realize that it's not time constraints, or work, or your family it IS YOU! make the effort, and make the change, it WILL be well worth it!

So THERE!

I hope you found all of this interesting enough that you want to keep reading and that you want to go down this lifestyle change journey with me! I will be posting daily meals and exercises and I look forward to getting feedback and learning from all of you as well :)
